Opacity is profitable. Transparency is the intervention.

The same architecture — conscripted for liberation.

20+ years building what wasn't there and fixing what wasn't working — at VA, NIH, and across the community health ecosystem. Now architecting the systems that pull data into the light.

The work

Three vectors. One thesis.

The same intervention at different levels of scale — civic, institutional, and personal. Each reinforces the others.

Board vacancy tracking across 13 states. The civic accountability platform that makes "who's not in the room" finally countable.

Clarity Is Self-Care

The movement. Making visible what's been hidden — in healthcare, in governance, in our own lives. The personal is systemic.

The receipts

Built, shipped, operationalized.

Two decades of making chaotic, compliance-heavy data environments safe enough to trust and structured enough to power AI.

"The curtain doesn't get pulled back. It gets ripped down."

Healthcare executives hear the AI governance framework that makes adoption possible. Community audiences hear the lived experience that makes the data real. Both hear the same thesis — because the system is the same system.

The origin

#bydesign

1619
Bodies as infrastructure
The original design — Black bodies as economic architecture. Medical experimentation on enslaved people begins. The extraction model is established.
Feature, not bug
1865
Incomplete by design
Formal enslavement ends. The economic and social infrastructure does not. The design adapts — sharecropping, convict leasing, medical exploitation continue.
Architecture updates, intention doesn't
1932–72
Tuskegee · Lacks · Forced sterilization
Black bodies as raw material for a healthcare economy that excludes them. Data extracted, benefit withheld. Reproductive control targeting Black, Indigenous, and poor women.
Control the body, control the future
1965
The law changed. The room didn't.
Civil Rights legislation passes. Board appointments remain closed ecosystems. Healthcare data stays siloed. Vacancy tolerance becomes the new mechanism of exclusion.
New language, same design
Now
The reckoning — and the conscription
AI pulls data into the light. Board vacancies are finally countable. Maternal mortality, abortion bans, economic rollback — the receipts are all in one place. The infrastructure of extraction is being reprogrammed for liberation.
#bydesign — for good
The operating thesis
Opacity is profitable.
Transparency is the intervention.

The same people kept out of board rooms are the same people whose healthcare data has been extracted, misclassified, and ignored. The AI moment exposes both simultaneously. The work happens at all three levels.

The CRISPR paradigm

CRISPR-Cas9 enters a cancer cell, finds the precise damage, cuts it, and replaces it with functional code. Viral vectors — once feared as pathogens — now deliver the cure. The mechanism that caused harm is now the mechanism that heals.

The architecture was always capable of this. It just needed to be conscripted.
